STAR SYSTEMS
Dear Parents:
Congratulations on making it halfway through the school year! I know I'm pretty excited
about making it this far and surviving all the snow. I want to send a message to thank all of you
for the hard work your young person has been doing in class this year.
Some of you may be have noticed on the Important Theatre Dates list that coming up in
March is an event called “Star Systems.” And you might be saying, "What is Star Systems?" …
Star Systems is a very large dance competition where hundreds of students from area
dance studios come to our stage to compete for trophies and awards. This competition is the
biggest Theatre fundraiser we have all year, one that is directly responsible for providing
the Senior Scholarship our Booster group awards in May, as well as funds that support
our classes and productions. This fundraiser requires a tremendous effort from our students
and from willing parent volunteers. Each year, our volunteers help with setup of dressing
rooms and security for this enormous three-day event, and our Booster group provides
concessions for sale.
In order to make this happen, we are going to need your help.
All students enrolled in Theatre Arts or Tech classes and inducted Thespians not in
classes will be required to sign up for one shift at Star Systems. (One shift is 4 hours.) For every
shift a student works over the 1 required, they can earn extra ITS points and extra credit for class.
For every shift YOU volunteer with your young person, they can receive extra credit points for
class. I will also sign service hour sheets for students who get permission from their honors
societies and organizations that require such. The spans 40 hours over the course of the weekend,
which can quickly add up to a lot of extra points/credit/service hours for interested students.
The dates and shifts:
(3/5) Fri - 2:15-6:15 p.m.; 6:15-10:15 pm
(3/6) Sat - 6:30am-10:30am; 10:30am-2:30pm; 2:30pm-6:30pm; 6:30pm-10:30pm
(3/7) Sun – 6:30am-10:30am; 10:30am-2:30pm; 2:30pm-6:30pm; 6:30pm-10:30pm
